2s-13+13 = 5+13
moving - 13 to the other side
2s = 5+13
2s = 18
divide both sides by 2
2s/2 = 18/2
Cross out 2 and 2, divide by 2 and then becomes 1*1*s=s
s = 18/2
Answer: s = 9
