Josh and Alex went to the candy shop. Josh bought lemon drops at $0.35 a piece. Alex bought chocolate bars at $0.80 a piece. If they bought the same amount of each candy and spent a total of $6.90 how many lemon drops and chocolate bars did they get

    The answer is 6.

    0.35x + 0.80x = 6.90

    1.15x = 6.90

    x = 6.90/1.15

    x = 6

    We're using x because it's the same amount of chocolate bars and lemon drops.
