12x = 20
divide by 12 for both sides
12x/12 = 20/12
cross out 12 and 12, divide by 12 and then becomes x
x = 20/12
Reduce the fraction by 4 for 20/12
20/4 = 5
12/4=3
Answer: x = 5/3 and x = 1 2/3

x=0.6
The answer to that equation is 0.6. Which I don't think you are looking for? So you may have made a mistake in the equation.
If you meant to say 2x = 20, the answer would be 10.
