The answer is 14x+4
First you distribute the 4 to the numbers inside the parentheses. 4 (2x) = 8x and 3 (1) = 4
You do the same for - (6x) but you distribute the negative sign. A negative times a negative is a positive so - (-6x) = 6x
Now your new equation is 8x+4+6x
Next you have to combine like terms. The like terms is this equation is 8x and 6x. So 8x+6x = 14x
Your final answer is 14x+4
