Solve.

One pattern starts at O and follows the rule "add 2."

Another pattern starts at 0 and follows the rule

"add 5." Write the first 6 numbers in each pattern. How

do the terms in the first pattern compare to the

corresponding terms in the second pattern?

Show your work.

I know how to do the pattern but I don't know how they compare.

    First pattern 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ...

    Second pattern 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

    the first pairs are equal

    the second pair are different by 3

    the third pair is different by 6

    the fourth pair is different by 9

    Here we see pattern that every subsequent pair differs from the previous pair's margin by + 3. In terms of formulas The difference between 2 pairs is given by 3 (n-1) where n is the starting number of the pair (Considering (0; 0) pair as the 1.

    Short answer

    The n-th term in the first pattern compared to the

    corresponding n-th term in the second pattern differ by 3 * (n-1)
