The probability of rolling doubles is the probability of rolling any number time the probability of rolling the same number on the second die.
P (doubles) = (6/6) (1/6) = 6/36=1/6
You can also think of it like this:
There are 6 doubles that you can roll out of 36 total possible rolls which is also:
6/36=1/6
