    6 (4x + 5) = 3 (x + 8) + 3 Multiply 6 into (4x + 5)

    24x + 30 = 3 (x + 8) + 3 Multiply 3 into (x + 8)

    24x + 30 = 3x + 24 + 3 Combine like terms

    24x + 30 = 3x + 27 Subtract 3x on both sides

    21x + 30 = 27 Subtract 30 on both sides

    21x = - 3 Divide 21 on both sides

    x = - 0.14

    6 (4x + 5) = 3 (x + 8) + 3

    Distribute

    24x + 30 = 3x + 24 + 3

    Move like terms to be on the same side

    24x - 3x = 24 + 3 - 30

    21x = 27 - 30

    21x = - 3

    x = - 3/21

    x = - 1/7

    x = - 0.142857

    If its rounded to the nearest hundredth, your answer is:

    -0.14
