    X=10, Y = 3 1/2

    Step-by-step explanation:

    4x-2y=33 ... i

    X+2y=17 ... ii

    Adding equation I and ii

    5x=50 divide both side by 5x

    X=10

    Substitute 10 for x in equation I we have,

    10+2y=17

    2y=17-10, collect the like term

    2y=7 divide bother sides by 2

    y=7/2, further division give us

    Y = 3 1/2.
