    First let's convert the dimensions of the floor into inches. 12 inches = 1 foot

    5 feet = 5 x 12 inches = 60 inches

    8 feet = 8 x 12 inches = 96 inches

    From these new measurements you can find the are of the floor in inches, length x width

    60 x 96 = 5760 inches squared

    Now he wants to cover the floor in 3 inch square tiles, so to find how many he needs we dived the area of the floor by the area of one tile.

    5760/3 = 1920 tiles
