It is grammatically correct because 4+5 = 9 and 2+7=9 also. So, what this sentence is basically saying is 9=9 which will always be true. If the sentence were 4+5=9+1, then that would be grammatically incorrect because the sentence would simplify to 9=10 and 9 will never = 10.
