    Distance from Fresno where both cars meet = 210 - 150 = 60 miles

    Step-by-step explanation:

    let x = distance travelled by A from Sacramento

    y = distance travelled by B from Los Angeles

    t = time after 12 noon that they meet

    x = 50 (t + 1)

    y = 400 - x = 75 (t) or x = 400 - 75t

    so: 50 (t + 1) = 400 - 75t

    50t + 50 = 400 - 75t

    50t + 75t = 400 - 50

    t = 2,8 hrs

    so y = 400 - 75 (2.8) = 210 miles from Los Angeles

    distance from Fresno where both cars meet = 210 - 150 = 60 miles
