    Neil is 28yrs and his brother is 42yrs old

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let r = Neil's brother's age at birth time

    2r = Neil's age now

    This means that his brother's current age is 3r

    So when Neil = 3r old

    His brother = 4r old

    3r + 4r = 98

    7r = 98

    r = 14

    So their ages now

    Neil's brother = 3*14 = 42

    Neil = 2*14 = 28.
