I have homework and i dont understand it its called "Solving Systems of Equations by Elimination." The problem im stuck on is

8x+y=-16

-3x+y=-5

I need the answer and how to do it.

    First you multiply 8*16 when you find your answer then you add it your answer should be 136

    You add the equations together making sure one of the variables disappears by making one negative and one positive. In this situation y would alrady disappear 8x+y=-16
