Percentage is parts of 100.
An example: 2% is 2100
So we need to convert your 16 23 % into parts of 100
Write 16 23 as 16 + 23
Change into fractions of 100 parts
16100 + 23 100
But 23 100 = 23 * 1100
Now we have 16100 + 2*1 3*100
16100 + 2300
Before we can add these directly we need to make the bottom numbers the same (denominators)
Need to change the 100 in 16100 into 300.
Multiply by 1 but in the form of 33
16*3 100*3 + 2300
= 48300 + 2300 = 50300
Simplifying gives:
= 50:10 300:10 = 5/30 =
5:5 30:5 = (1/6)
