Eileen is making bracelets to give to her friends as gifts. She needs to make 9 bracelets and each one is made from a length of cord that is 6 3/4 inches long. The cord is only sold in 1-foot increments, so she buys 6 feet of cord. How many inches of cord will Eileen have left over after making 9 bracelets?

    First multiply 6 3/4 by 9 which is 60 3/4

    That is how many inches of rope you will need to make 9 bracelets.

    60 3/4 inches equals 5 feet and 3/4 inches.

    then subtract

    6 feet equals 72 inches.

    72 - 60 3/4 = 11 1/4

    11 1/4 inches of cord would be left.
