What to do if your solution to a problem seems unrealistic?

If it's a math problem, you should check your answer by plugging in the answer to the original equation. Otherwise, you should redo the problem to make sure you didn't make any mistakes. If you did everything you can and you still aren't sure about what you got, ask a teacher, friend, or just look it up. Your best bet is to go with your gut.

Usually, until you get to 9th grade, all the problems will be realistic. But if you come across a solution that seems unrealistic, its either that you made some silly mistake while solving (meaning your answer is wrong) or, the problem will make you think.

Example: If a problem asks you to see how much a driver can drive in 4 hours, and you get an answer like - 56 miles per hour.

Does that seem realistic?

The answer is NO, because driving would never be a negative number, for that does not have an logical explanation.
