    You have 2+2 in each 2 there are 1's so

    2 = (1+1) 2 = (1+1) = 4

    4=1+1+1+1

    2+2=4

    think of 2's as 1's when adding did you know 2x2 = 4 as well.

    The definition of 2 is 1+1 and the definition of 4 is 1+1+1+1.

    Now "+" is transitive such that the addition 1+1+1+1 can be broken down as 1 + (1+1+1) or as (1+1) + (1+1) indifferently, which is 2+2 = 4
