The sum of twice a number and five is greater than three times the number minus three

First, write out the problem. 2x + 5 > 3x - 3

next, solve.

2x + 5 > 3x - 3

add 3 to the left side.

2x + 8 > 3x

subtract 2x from the right side.

8 > 1x

Rememember you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to boht sides except diviede by zero and when you mulitply by a negative with inequalities (<, <,>,>) remember to flip the sign

greater than means >

3 times means multiply

sum of twice a number and 5 (2x+5) is greater than (>) 3 times the number (3x) minus 3 (-3)

we now have

2x+5>3x-3

subtract 2x from both sides

add 3 to both sides
