Rick, Darren, and DeAndre each have $16.50. They each spend the same amount (d), in dollars, at the county fair. The total amount of money they still have can be expressed as 3 (16.50 - d). Which of the following expressions is equivalent to the total amount, in dollars, they still have?

    The correct answer is (A)

    - Since you are trying to find the total amount they have left over jointly, you would want to take the total amount of money that had together minus the total amount of money spent. Because you know they each had the same amount to start with & that they both spent the same amount, you'd want to multiply the starting by three since there were three men & the variable for how much they spent by three aswell. Which could be summed up by saying use the distributive property of multiplication.

    - A. says $49.50-3d which is what you'd get by distributing, which is how you know it is the correct answer choice.
