Shauna brought two similar blocks of ice to the family picnic, the larger block has a surface area of 6000cm squared, the smallest dimensions that are 3/4 as long. What is the surface area of the smaller block of ice

    It's not necessary to assume that they're both cubes, but I think

    we do have to assume that they're both rectangular solids.

    Then the volume of the larger one is

    (length) x (width) x (height) = 6,000 cm²

    Using the fact that 3/4 = 0.75, the volume of the smaller one is

    (0.75 length) x (0.75 width) x (0.75 height) =

    (0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75) x (length x width x height) =

    (0.75) ³ x (6,000 cm³) = 2,531.25 cm³
