    16000/x=100/5

    (16000/x) * x = (100/5) * x - we multiply both sides of the equation by x

    16000=20*x - we divide both sides of the equation by (20) to get x

    16000/20=x

    800=x

    x=800

    now we have:

    5% of 16000=800

    16000+800=16800

    If the car cost 16,000

    we need to find how much is 5% of 16,000

    tax cost = (16,000 * 5) / 100 = 825

    the total cost of the car was 16,000+825=$ 16,825
