I got a different answer when i calculated it
8688/8.2
So 8.2 goes outside the "house."
1. Since the decimal in 8.2 is in the tens place you move the decimal one space to the right. So it should now be 82
2. Now do that to the 8688 and now it should look like this: 868.8
3. Bring the decimal into the quotient, right above
4. 82 goes into 86 one time so put a one in the quotient.
5. 82 times 1 = 82 so now you do 86-82=84 and bring down the eight
8. 82 goes into 848 10 so add the zero in your quotient and do 82 times 10 which is 820
9. 848-820=28
10. Now bring down the eight
11. 288 divided by 82=3
12. 288-246=42
