subsitute

1480=2w+2 (460)

1480=2w+920

subtract 920 from both sides

560=2w

divide both isdes by 2

280=w

width=280 meters

280 meters wide

because if you double 460 and subtract the answer from 1480 then divid by 2 you get the answer.
