5 (3x) - 1 (+2) (12) - 2x (-2) (5x+1) = - 1

    This is how you are suppose to do it.

    Multiply 5 (3x) 2 (12) 2x (-2) (5x+1)

    combine like terms

    solve for x by a) adding 23 to the other side b) factor out x and solve for x

    x=23

    x=-19/20
