5x-3=27 is a very simple equation to solve. Remember this whenever you solve algebra equations. In order to find x, you have to single it out so it looks like x = whatever. Here we have 5x-3=27 so we have to get rid of the minus 3 and the 5 in front of the x. Whenever you solve algebra equations, at least simple ones like this one, you start with addition or subtraction. In this one, we get rid of the 3 first, (this is important), in algebra you can add, subract, multiply and divide the equation, though when you do this, you have to do this on both sides of the equation. So if we add 3 to the left side: 5x-3+3, - 3 plus 3 is 0 so you have 5x+0 and anything plus 0 is still the same, but now since you added 3 to the left side, you also have to do the same thing to the other side of the equation, 27 + 3 (30), so now you should have 5x=30, (Another small algebra tip) numbers in front of a variable means multiply, so you can think 5 times x equals 30. Same as before, you wanna get rid of the 5, by doing the opposite, dividing instead of multiplying. Draw a line and a 5 underneath 5x like a fraction, but this can be seen as dividing 5x by 5. If you multiply a number by 5 but divide by 5 afterwards, you end up at the same number so 5x divided by 5 is the same thing as just x, now since you divided the left side by 5, you have to do the same on the right, 30 divided by 5 is 6, so your final equation should look like x = 30, and thats how you solve simple two step equations.
