2. At a fair, each person can spin two wheels of chance. The first wheel has the numbers 1, 2, and 3. The second wheel has the letters A and B.

(a) List all the possible outcomes of the compound event.

(b) If you spin both wheels, what is the probability that you get either a 1 or an A? Explain.

    2a

    2b

    3a

    3b

    there are a total of 2 number one's

    so there is a possibility of 2/6 chance to get the number 1

    There are 3 a's in the set of data so there is a 3/6 chance to get an a

    But we should exclude 1a because it is already counted in the first set when we counted the total number of 1's so there is a 2/6 chance of getting an A

    add

    2/6+2/6=4/6

    There is a 4/6 or 2/3 chance of getting either an a or an 1
