Let 2^x = y
so. y^4 = y^3 - 3
this equation is the equivalent eqjuation.
or if the qn is 2^{4x} = 8^{x-3} then 2^{4x} = 2^{3 * (x-3) }
4x = 3x - 9
x = - 9
