You would first have to move the decimal over 2 places to the right because you cant divide by a decimal. Then you would have to add a decimal to 449 and move the decimal 2 places to the right because its "not fair". So you would be dividing 44900:42. 42 goes into 44 one time, (bring the 1 up) so you would subtract 44-42 which = 2. Then bring down the 9 so it would be 29. And 42 goes into 29 zero times, (bring the zero up) so you would bring the 0 down so it would be 290. And 42 goes into 290 six times, (bring the six up) so you subtract 290-270 (42·6=270) which = 20. You would then bring down the 0 so it would be 200. 42 goes into 200 4 times (bring the 4 up) which is 180 so you would subtract 200-180 which that = 20. So far your answer should be 1064. okay, now you would have to add 2 zeros. Bring the 0 down, which will end up being 200, 42 goes into 200 four times (bring the 4 up). 200-180=20. Bring the last 0 down, which will be 200. You know 42 goes into 200 4 times, so bring the 4 up. Your answer should now be 1064.44. Now you have to round to the nearest tenth place, so look at the hundredths place. If its lower then 5, keep it, if its 5 or up bring it up. Its lower then 5 so it stays the same. You should get 1064.4.
