One triangle has sides that measure 8 yards, 15 yards, and 17 yards. The side lengths of a second triangle are 48 yards, 90 yards, and 102 yards. What is the constant of proportionality between the first and second triangle?

    6 is the answer, because 48/6=8

    Triangle 1:

    Side a - 8yd

    Side b - 15 yd

    Side c - 17 yd

    Triangle 2:

    Side a - 48 yd

    Side b - 90 yd

    Side c - 102 yd

    Take the equivalent side from each triangle and divide Triangle 1's side by Triangle 2's side.

    T1Sa/T2Sa = 8yd/48yd = 1/6

    T1Sb/T2Sb = 15yd/90yd = 1/6

    T1Sc/T2Sc = 17yd/102yd = 1/6
