    So a plane takes off 12.5 miles south of a city and flies north at 180 mph

    in 45 mins how far is it away from the city

    | (x) | means absolute value of x

    so | (12.5 - (180/1 times x-hours)) |=distance

    1 hour=60 mins

    45=3/4 of 60

    the plane flew 3/4 hour

    180 times 3/4=540/4=135 miles traveled

    | (12.5-135) |=122.5 miles away from the city
