I found the figure that is part of this problem.

The length was 4 feet and the width was 1 1/6 feet.

1st: convert width into improper fraction:

    1 1/6 → 7/6

    Area of the rectangle = 4 ft * 7/6 fet = 4*7 / 6 = 28/6 square feet

    Divided into two sails:

    28/6 / 2 = 28/6 * 1/2 = 28/12 sq. feet.

    Simplify:

    28/12 = 2 4/12

    2 1/3 square feet.

The area of one sale is 2 1/3 square feet.
