To study the properties of various particles, you can accelerate the particles with electric flelds. A positron is a particle with the same mass as an electron but the opposite charge (+e). Express your answer in vector form. Do not enter units in your expression (a) If a positron is accelerated by a constant electric field E - (320 1 - 125j-195 kN/C, find the acceleration of the positron (32-125j-15d th m/s2 (b) Assuming the positron started from rest, find the velocity of the positron 8.75 x 10-9 s later. m/s

    When a charge q is placed in an electric field, a force equal to qE acts on it

    Force on positron

    = 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹ x (320 i - 125 j - 195 k) N

    Acceleration

    = force / mass

    = 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹ x (320 i - 125 j - 195 k) / 9.1 x 10⁻³¹

    a = 1.76 x 10¹¹ (320 i - 125 j - 195 k)

    b)

    velocity

    = u + at

    = 1.76 x 10¹¹ (320 i - 125 j - 195 k) x 8.75 x 10⁻⁹

    = 15.4 x 10² (320 i - 125 j - 195 k)
