Explanation:the atom consists of a tiny nucleus at its center which is surrounded by a moving electrons. The nucleus contains a positively charged proton equal in size with the negatively charged electrons. The nucleus also may contain neutrons which have the same mass with the protons but no charge is neutral.

The nucleus of an atom is made up of protons and neutrons. This was discovered in 1911 by Ernest Rutherford based on the gold foil experiment.

These baryons are further made up of sub-atomic fundamental particles known as quarks joined by the strong interaction.

Nuclei are bound together by the residual strong force (nuclear force). This force or baryon is much weaker between neutrons and protons because it is mostly neutralized within them, in the same way that electromagnetic forces between neutral atoms (such as van der Waals forces that act between two inert gas atoms) are much weaker than the electromagnetic forces that hold the parts of the atoms together internally.
