Calculate the change in momentum of a 10kg object that has an initial speed of 15m/s and slows to 8 m/s. If

this change occurs over a time of 3s, what force caused the change?

    Explanation:

    Momentum f = m (v - u) / t

    given mass m = 10kg

    Final velocity v = 8m/s

    Initial velocity u = 15m/s

    Time t = 3 secs

    Using the above formula

    F = 10 (8 - 15) / 3

    = 10 x - 7 / 3

    = - 70/3

    = - 23.33N
