    -178.8 K

    Explanation:

    From Charles law,

    V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂ ... Equation 1

    Where V₁ = Initial volume, T₁ = Initial Temperature, V₂ = Final volume, T₂ = Final Temperature.

    Making T₂ the subject of the equation

    T₂ = V₂T₁/V₁ ... Equation 2

    Given: V₂ = 1.00 L, V₁ = 2.5 L, T₁ = 298 K.

    Substitute into equation 2

    T₂ = 1.00 (298) / 2.5

    T₂ = 119.2 K.

    But,

    Change in temperature = T₂ - T₁ = 119.2-298

    Change in temperature = - 178.8 K.

    Hence the change in temperature = - 178.8 K
