Both radio waves and ultraviolet light are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The main differences are due to the different wavelength and frequency of the two types of waves. In fact:
- Radio waves are the electromagnetic waves with longest wavelength (> 1 mm) and lowest frequency (<300 GHz). Since they can travel very long distance, they are generally used in radiocommunications, satellites, broadcasting, radar, etc ... (long-distance applications)
- Ultraviolet light includes electromagnetic waves with much shorter wavelength than radio waves (10-400 nm) and as a consequence much higher frequency. As a result, ultraviolet light also has much more energy than radio waves (because the energy of an electromagnetic wave is directly proportional to its frequency). Ultraviolet light is contained, for example, in the sunlight. Its effect can be dangerous for human skin, causing cancers if the skin is exposed to them for a long time.
