    Give that,

    Mass of object

    Ma = 40kg

    Mb = 35kg

    Velocity of mass A Va = 50m/s

    Velocity of mass B Vb = 30m/s

    Since after collision the two bodies stick together (inelastic collision), then, they will have a common velocity

    Let assume common velocity V

    So using conservation of linear momentum

    Momentum before collision is equal to momentum after collision

    P (before) = P (after)

    Note P = mV and momentum is a vector quantity

    So we assume, that the small mass is moving in the negative direction

    P (before) = P (after)

    Ma•Va - Mb•Vb = (Ma+Mb) V

    40*50-35*30 = (40+35) V

    950 = 75V

    Then, V = 950/75

    V = 12.67 m/s

    The common velocity is 12.67 m/s
