A rocket is fired at a speed of 75.0 m/s from ground level, at an angle of 60.0 degrees above the horizontal. The rocket is fired toward an 11.0m high wall, which is located 27.0 m away.

A. By how much does the rocket clear the top of the wall?

B. How far away does the rocket land?

C. What is the final Velocity of the rocket as it hit the ground?

    Let the distance from the ground to where the rocket clears the wall be x.

    x/27.0 = tan 60°, x = 27.0 * tan 60° = 46.8m (rounded off to 1 decimal value)

    The rocket clears the wall by 46.8m - 11.0m = 35.8m

    How far the rocket lands:

    Distance = Velocity * time

    Velocity = 75.0m/s

    Time = ?

    Time due to free fall = Velocity : Acceleration due to gravity (9.8m/s²) = 75.0/9.8 = 7.7seconds (rounded off to 1 decimal value)

    Distance = Velocity * Time = 75.0m/s * 7.7s = 577.5m

    Final velocity as the rocket hits the ground:

    Velocity due to free fall = Acceleration due to free fall * Time = 9.8m/s² * 7.7s = 75.5m/s (rounded off to 1 decimal value).
