How do the masses of the wood and metal blocks affect how much energy they have?

    For objects at rest, we can use the equation of:

    E = mc^2 to obtain the energy of the object

    where E is energt, m is mass and c is the speed of light.

    Then, the mass of the wood or metal blocks is related to the energy by that equation.

    If we are talking about other energies, like kinetic energy, it can be written as:

    K = (m/2) * v^2

    So again, the mass is related to the energy, more mass implies more energy.
