Why can't sound be heard in space?

    Space is a void full of planet's and stars. there is nothing for sound waves to travel through or bounce off of.

    There is nothing for the sound waves to pass through. Sound only passes through something with a atmosphere (like earth), but space is purely a vacuum with no particles for the sound waves to pass through.
