A spring required a force of 1.0 n to compress it 0.1 m. how much work is required to stretch the spring 0.4 m?

    Hooke's law says that there is a linear relationship between distance and force

    (f = - kx) So we would take (1/2) (10) (0.4^2) = 4

    (10 N) (0.4 m) = 4 Joules.
