    Horizontal distance can be computed using the formula:

    dx = vt

    Where:

    dx=horizontal distance

    v=velocity

    t = time

    Your problem gives you the velocity and time; 2 m/s and 1.7s respectively. All you need to do is fill in what you know and solve for what you don't know.

    dx=vt

    dx = (2m/s) (1.7s)

    dx=3.4m
