Sir Francis Drake, an English privateer, sea captain, navigator, slaver and a politician during the era of Elizabeth, was the first man to lead and complete a journey around the world. He was also the first Englishman who made the very first English encampment which eventually became the United States. Oregon and California are stuck in a dispute over what had happened 433 years ago. It is when Drake became the first British to make contact with the Native Americans. He spearheaded the first encounter between Englishmen and Native Americans. England’s first claim to land the new world was laid by him.
