Why did the United States of America create a government with a weak central government under the Articles of Confederation?

    They didn't want a strong central government at first. The articles of confederation was created during the revolutionary war. The U. S did not want to mimic Britain by allowing the government to control its people so they allowed the states to have more say-so. The founders of the Constitution then proved there needed balance and created the constitution, balance between both states and central government.
