There were 17 wild animals in Newton's woods. At first, some tigers left and, then, just as many lions left. when the only giraffe left there were only 8 wild animals still living in the woods. (a) How many lions left Newton? (b) How many wild cats (tigers and lions together) left Newton?

    A) 4 lions

    b) 8 cats altogether

    So, 4 + 4 = 8

    8 + 1 + 8 = 17
