How were the empires of european states established between 1450-1750

Europeans wanted to expand and build empires. There was a British empire, a Spanish empire, Dutch east Indian trading company, Europeans would move to new lands and take them over. Other large land empires would emerge like the Ottoman Empire and the Islamic Mughal.
