Suppose your electric lights use 500 watts per hour and average four hours per day, every day for one year. How many kWh per year does this represent?

    First, convert watts to kilowatts.

    500w/1000 =.5 kW per hour

    .5*4 hours = 2kwh*365 days = 730 kWh

    The answer is 730 kwh per year
