Why is Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix considered an example of Romantic art?

    I believe it is considered an example of Romantic art because t he painting uses color, lighting, and movement to elicit an emotional response from viewers.

    If you take a look at the painting, you will see that it portrays an important even in French history - the French Revolution of 1830, when king Charles X was overthrown. The woman in the painting is a symbolic representation of freedom or liberty leading its people away from tyranny.
