It is Chezh painter and writer Josef Lada (1887-1957). He produced about 600 illustrations of Svejks adventures. These illustrations shows Austrian-Hungary officers as incompetent, funny, and often drunk. Almost all editions of Hasek's „The Good Soldier Svejk" used Lada's illustrations, and exception is Chezh 2008-2009 edition with illustrations by Petr Urban. „The Good Soldier Svejk" (the full title: The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Svejk During the World War) is a satirical novel by Chezh writer Jaroslav Hasek. It is about adventures of Chezh soldier Svejk during the World War I.
