I would say that the most dominant element of Romantic Music is that it strived to have a romantic (connected to love, the contemplation of existence or nature) meaning. For example, such themes were very common:
-focus on the spiritual experiences
-focus on nature and the relationship of men and nature
-focus on the subjective feeling
